About the Practitioner

Sandra Padjen, M.S., L.M.T., C.Y.T. (Sandy)

Hi, my name is Sandy.  As the owner of Peak Performance Sports Massage and Fitness, my goal is to make Peak Performance a premier provider of sports massage and fitness programs in the Summit County area.  I believe that massage can offer many benefits in addition to relaxation.  Massage can play a key role in helping muscles to recover more quickly from overuse injuries. A massage can help muscles return to functioning at an optimal level when it includes deep tissue work and myofascial release to relieve tight restricted areas, appropriate stretching exercises to improve flexibility, and strengthening exercises to correct muscle imbalances. I think that massage is a great preventive measure to alleviate small muscle problems before they lead to bigger issues that need further medical attention. My goal is to provide each client with an individualized session to meet their needs.

I have had more than 20 years of experience designing fitness programs as a teacher and a coach for distance runners.  I have a M.S. in Exercise Physiology and Cardiac Rahabilitation.  I am a Licensed Massage Therapist in Colorado who focuses my practice in the areas of sports and therapeutic massage. I am also a Certified Yoga Teacher.  During my teaching and coaching experiences, I worked with a number of individuals whose performances were limited by some type of musculoskeletal issue.  This led me to seek an additional degree as a Massage Therapist so I could help to correct those issues and assist individuals in maintaining optimal performance.  I believe that everyone benefits from regular exercise.  I enjoy helping people to live active, healthy lives.

I am a distance runner and marathoner who has qualified for the Boston Marathon five times.  I enjoy mountain biking especially in Summit, Eagle, and Pitkin counties in Colorado.  I have four years of experience as a ski instructor for both children and adults.  In addition, I enjoy hiking on the mountain trails near my home and have climbed several 14'ers.

My coaching accomplishments include coaching 10 individual state champions in high school distance events in Track.   I also coached 2 state champion cross country teams while coaching in Illinois.  In 2011, I was honored as the Colorado Sportswomen Coach of the Year for High School Track Coaches.  In addition, I have coached/trained a number of individuals to successfully complete their first marathon.  I would like to take my successful coaching experience with distance runners and apply it to helping individuals in other sports and activities to improve their performances.
